With the current Covid-19 pandemic, many health professionals are restricting their practice or shutting their doors. If you’re here, that’ll be no surprise to you. You must make the right decision for you, your loved ones and your patients. But even if you choose to close, there are powerful steps you ought to take now to stabilise your income and come back stronger. Now is the perfect time to focus on practice marketing and get your ducks in line.
As I said in my guest post, How to Benefit Your Business During the Coronavirus Pandemic, there are, as I see it, four possible choices:
1. Continue to practice, safely and following recommended protocols
2. Close your practice and hide
3. Go online
4. Work on your practice instead of in your practice
If you need to choose option two, be gentle with yourself. Practice self-love and kindness. These are unprecedented times. However, there is much power in those other choices. The great slow down may give you the time you’ve not previously had to set up the systems and the strategies that lift your practice and your life to another level. It might just offer a focus on practice marketing that you’ve not been able to previously muster.
With that in mind, here’s a snippet from my book, Prosper In Practice (get your complimentary copy here) to spark your motivation…
Have you ever wondered about the difference between your peer health professionals with many patients and those without?
How one practitioner can have a bustling, highly profitable practice with ranting, loyal and referring fans for patients and a relaxed lifestyle… and another can struggle to get, or worse, keep patients even though they work long hours and suffer and endure immense stress?
Or maybe you are really doing okay in practice, even well, but you’d like to ramp up your income, relax your lifestyle, increase your return rates, and… well, make everything easier?
And the epitome of continued success, introducing droves of new patients with little — if any — financial additional to your budget?
We can get caught in the dangerous trap of thinking that if we build it, they will come. If we continue studying and learning, if we get more training, if we are good at our job, if our patients get better, we will succeed. But it’s not quite that simple. You see, the proof is in the pudding. We like to think it’s like Walt Disney said about referrals: “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friend.”
Yes, referrals are great! Referred patients are often better patients, and referrals absolutely should be encouraged. But they are not enough if you want the practice of your dreams. And I’ve got to tell you if you want to build your practice, income, and lifestyle far slower than necessary, and you want to rely on one single source of new patients, then stop reading now.
This is NOT for you.
But if you want to discover super strategies to reach, build trust with and convert your ideal patients (you know, the ones that stay, pay, and refer by the dozen), keep reading. And know, ethical practice marketing is a key part of making this successful.
“People do not buy goods and services. They buy relations, stories, and magic.” – Seth Godin
The one thing we need you to do?
There are many powerful pieces of advice in this book. But all of these steps require one common denominator – action.
As with everything in life, if you don’t take action, knowledge is useless. You cannot go from where you are now, to prospering in practice, by doing what you are now doing. What’s that quote reportedly attributed to Albert Einstein?
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
He was a very wise man. Be like him and quit doing the same things over and over and expecting different outcomes!
This website, our books and our courses are designed to empower you to elevate your care, enhance your capacity to impact your community and to implement ethical practice marketing.
You’re in for a wonderful ride.
